RICHMOND, Indiana - Franklin College scored 42 first-half points in a 56-26 victory over the Earlham College football team in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action from Darrell Beane Stadium on Saturday.

The Grizzlies scored on their first four drives including two hookups from quarterback Chase Burton to wide receiver Deontez Alexander. Between Franklin's second and third touchdowns, Earlham did put together an 8-play, 68-yard drive finished by a 9-yard pass from senior Wesley Hundley to fellow senior Marcaus Cooper.

Trailing 28-7, the Quaker defense came up with a stop as sophomore Kobe Walker intercepted Burton and setting up the Earlham offense with a short field. The hosts capitalized as Hundley again found Cooper for a touchdown. The point after attempt failed and Franklin led 28-13 with 3:27 to play in the first half.

Unfortunately for the Quakers, the Grizzles scored two touchdowns to end the half and take a 42-13 lead into halftime. Franklin kept the momentum going and scored the only two touchdowns of the third quarter.

Hundley led the Quakers to two scoring drives in the fourth quarter including a 5-yard pass to Elijah Bilal and a 2-yard scamper with seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Franklin outgained Earlham 531-395 including a 351-137 edge in passing yards. The Quakers outrushed the Grizzlies 258-180 including 157 yards on 26 carries from Hundley.

Burton, who played into the third quarter, finished 21-28 for 254 yards and three touchdowns. Jacob Earl carries 13 times for 126 yards and four scores the Grizzlies' running game.

Along with Hundley's rushing, freshman Cyrus Clark carried 11 times for 72 yards. Hundley also threw for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Cooper added nine catches for 35 yards and two scores.

Defensively, Walker, senior Eric Bryant and sophomore Dan O'Donnell all finished with seven tackles for Earlham. Austin Fleming had eight wrap-ups for Franklin.

The Quakers continue HCAC action at Mount St. Joseph University next Saturday.
