WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Earlham College women's soccer team came up short in a hard-fought non-conference battle against Wilmington College, 1-0, in a game played Wednesday night at Williams Stadium.

Wilmington's Madison Wiedeman scored the game's only goal in the 51st minute, driving a ball that went off the head of Earlham keeper Mel Johnson and into the Earlham goal.

Wilmington outshot Earlham, 14-4, and finished the night with seven corner kicks. Johnson was credited with four saves, while Wilmington keeper Lauren Galloway charted two saves.

Earlham women's soccer returns home for its next contest on Saturday, Sept. 21, when it hosts Mount Mary University in a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
