Women’s soccer closes out 2019 with victory over Manchester

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's soccer team closed out its 2019 season with a 1-0 win over Manchester University, Saturday afternoon at Matlack-Messer Stadium.

First year Tess Cunningham scored in the 31st minute on a blast from inside the 18-yard box, which deflected off a defender and past Spartan keeper Gabrielle Carreon. Junior Yana Miller was credited with an assist on the goal.

Earlham dominated play from wire-to-wire, and finished the game with 18 shots to Manchester's 11. The Quakers had six corner kick opportunities to the Spartans' three.

First year Mel Johnson finished the game with four saves in the Earlham goal.

Earlham women's soccer finished the 2019 season with a 9-9-0 record and a 2-7-0 mark in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Manchester closed out its 2019 campaign with a 1-17-0 overall mark, 1-8-0 in the HCAC.
