Volleyball makes quick work of Manchester in HCAC match

RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College volleyball hit .263 for the match while holding visiting Manchester University to a negative hitting percentage and rolled to a 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-11) victory over the Spartans, in a 59-minute Homecoming weekend match at the Druley Performance Gym.

Junior outside hitter Julia Stewart led the Quakers with 12 kills on 25 swings with only three attack errors, a .360 attack percentage. Sophomore pin hitter Caroline Mulvihill registered nine terminations on 15 error-free attacks, while sophomores Abbey Zanatta and Sarah Dickman finished with seven and six kills respectively.

Senior setter Lauren Jackson tallied 24 assists for the Quakers, while first year Jennifer Shamel and senior Sydney Ameluxen each charted 10 digs.

Manchester (10-12, 0-4 HCAC) recorded 22 kills, seven of those coming from the Spartans' Halle Planck, but MU gave away 24 points just on attack errors, with another seven points going to the Quakers on Manchester set and service errors.

Earlham volleyball returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23, when the Quakers travel to Hanover College to face the Panthers. Match start time is 7:00 p.m.
