RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's cross country team hosts the second annual Pat Thomas Invitational on campus this Saturday.
The Invitational: Named after former long-time Earlham cross country coach Pat Thomas, the four-kilometer course will be run at the College beginning at approximately 11 a.m.
The Teams: Earlham will be joined by Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) member Anderson University as well as Indiana University Northwest and Illinois Institute of Technology.
The Coaches: Claire and Rob Hewitt both enter their second seasons at co-head cross country coaches at Earlham. Last season, the Hewitt's led the Quakers to a sixth-place finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) conference. Prior to coming to Earlham, Claire worked at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant women's cross country coach while Rob had been a high school cross country and track & field coach at national powerhouse Germantown Friends High School (Pennsylvania) since 2004.
The Runners: Earlham has yet to run a four-kilometer course this season, but the Quakers finished finish in a six-kilometer race at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships and won the five-kilometer Wittenberg University Invitational. Freshmen Ana-Sosa Ebert (20:20.9) and Ellie Haland (20:37.9) along with junior Rachel Wilkins (20:39.2) were Earlham's top finishers in the five-kilometer race at Wittenberg earlier this month.
